 San Juan is situated right in
the neart of the Campo de Alicante surrounded by Campello, San Vicente, Alicante amd Muchamiel. The Campo de Alicante is an area that is devoted to dry farming owing to the light, irregular
rainfall.
Within the municipa district of Alicante, very close to San Juan, is the monastry of the Santa Faz, where one of the three images of
the face of Jesus Christ, dried by Saint Veronica when He was on His way to Mount Calvery, is kept.
Alicante people have a great devotion to this image, since
centuries ago a miracle caused a tear to appear on the image of His face. On the second Thursday after Easter a multitude of Alicante people make the pilgrimage to the Sanctuary where the
image of the Santa Faz (The Holy Face) is kept.
