Pinoso, which became
independant from Monóvar in 1826, is a prosperous town which mainly concentrates on vine growing and the production of salt and marble.
The landscape is dominated by the white limestone lands
covered with vines of the Monastrell variety, which produces strong red wines. Rosés, whites and dessert wines called Fondillon are also produced as
part of the Denomination of origin of Alicante wines. The Co.operative can store 14 million litres of wine.
Pinoso produces salt which is refined and commercialised in
Torrevieja. It also produces marble which is worked in Novelda.
In its wide district the white wine lands contrast with the green pines on the Sierra del Coto
