The Hondon Valley is the southernmost of the Vinalopo Valleys but as it has its own unique character, it is usually regarded as a separate area. This is possibly partly due to the its position, being so close to the city of Elche, that the more northern areas close to Elda and Monovar seem quite distant.
The valley has a strong English language community, especially around the popular town of Aspe and the nearest
Hondon (Hondon de las Nieves). As you travel along the valley, it becomes more and more rural and the grape vines and almond trees take over until you arrive in East Murcia,
just past the enjoyably named hamlet of Barbaroja (Redbeard).
There is now a small urbanisation development, just past Hondon de las Nieves, and a golf course is planned for
the Aspe area. No further major development is known.
