East Murcia is a very peaceful area of Murcia, bordering the Alicante province to the east and, being close to
the city of Murcia and its surrounding towns to the south and west, is surprisingly well connected.
The area is still quite unspoilt but has a small English community, mainly living in the newer country houses
dotted around the hills. Like most of this side of Murcia and Alicante, it grows wine grapes and has many almond trees.
There are three significant towns, Fortuna, Abanilla and Macisvenda.
The rest of the area is generally rural and unspoilt.
